Sushil reports in January 2007,
that work is in progress replacing old wooden sleepers with concrete sleepers near Sukna and replacing worn out rails near Mahanadi.
Steel sleepers are being used to replace wooden sleepers up to Gidday Pahar (Gladstone Rock).
Overhauling of the tracks is ongoing near the Tourist Lodge, Kurseong and onwards towards Darjeeling
