In 2004 Indian Railways started a major rebuild of NJP Station, with the replacement of the Metre Gauge network with the now standard Broad Gauge 5’ 6”
The layout shown here is the old station arrangement
A new long platform for the DHR has been built, off to the left of this drawing, and the main station is laid out to broad gauge standards with many platforms, some still cater for the Metre gauge lines that exist.
The 2" gauge loco shed, off the top of the drawing has been abandoned along with the removal of all the old 2” track to the south of the station.
The loco running shed is now at Silguri Junction.
